This incredible machine was built as a collaborative effort between
the Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory and the Sharon Wick School of
Engineering at the University of Iowa . Amazingly, 97% of the machines
components came from John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of
Bancroft, Iowa . Yes, farm equipment!
It took the team a combined 13,029 hours of set-up, alignment,
calibration, and tuning before filming this video but as you can see, it was
WELL worth the effort. It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni
Hall at the University and is already slated to be donated to the
Smithsonian.
This was sent as emails and online on other websites….the truth is the eRumor is a hoax.
The music is actually an acclaimed example of what is called “animated music” and is titled Pipe Dream. It is from www.animusic.com and is included on a DVD of other animated music productions.
The University of Iowa says there is neither a “Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory” nor a “Sharon Wick School of Engineering” on the campus. Those are fictional institutions.
Michael Jackson’s new single “This Is It” began streaming on the late singer’s Web site and hitting radio airwaves Monday at midnight, nearly four months after the King of Pop died on June 25 at age 50.
The upbeat R&B track features vocal backup by Jackson’s brothers and the lyrics “This is it, here I stand/I’m the light of the world, I feel grand.”
The two-disc album This Is It will be available in the U.S. on Oct. 27, the day before the release of the Michael Jackson documentary This Is It on Oct. 28.

Kanye West steals the mike…and Taylor Swift’s thunder – The event of the night went like this: As per usual, Taylor Swift was shocked, humble and gracious during her acceptance speech for Best Female Video saying she had “always dreamed” of what it would be like to win a moonman. Unfortunately, West was equally shocked and grabbed the mike to declare his vote for Beyonce. There were no winners here as Swift looked ready to cry, Beyonce looked horribly embarrassed and West looked like a big fat jerk. Making the moment even worse was that producers cut Swift off from finishing her speech once West left the stage.
Beyoncé keeps it classy
In the end, Kanye West went home happy as Beyoncé took the award for video of the year for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).” However, it was Beyoncé who stole the show this time around by inviting Taylor Swift onto the stage to belatedly finish her West-captured acceptance speech.
Hands Across America (video): A benefit event and publicity campaign staged on Sunday May 25, 1986 in which approximately seven million people held hands in a human chain for fifteen minutes along a path across the continental United States. The actual song “Hands Across America” that was playing while everyone was holding hands.
Sport Aid (Video): was a charitable event held on May 25 1986, raising millions of dollars to support famine relief in Africa, and is the sporting event with the most participants in history. The event was organised by Bob Geldof, also the driving force behind Band Aid (1984) and Live Aid (1985), and took place in 78 countries simultaneously.274 cities held official events to allow over 20 million participants to follow designated courses with television coverage shown worldwide. Tears for Fears released a remix “Everybody wants to Run the World” for Sport Aid.
Live Aid (Video): A multi-venue rock music concert held on July 13, 1985. The event was organized by Bob Geldof to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia. Billed as the ‘global jukebox’, the event was held simultaneously inWembley Stadium, London (attended by 82,000 people) and JFK Stadium, Philadelphia (attended by about 99,000 people). Performers included: Queen, U2, Paul Young, Dire Straits, David Bowie, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Sade, Sting, Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney, REO Speedwagon, Madonna, The Power Station, Tom Petty, The Cars, CSN & Y, Duran Duran, Hall & Oats, Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan, Santana, The Beach Boys, Phil Collins (who flew via the Concord to both stadiums on the same day)
Farm Aid (Video): A benefit concert on September 22, 1985, in Champaign, Illinois, held to raise money for family farmers in the United States. The concert was organized by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young, spurred on by Bob Dylan’s comments at Live Aid earlier in that year. (Dylan said, “I hope that some of the money…maybe they can just take a little bit of it, maybe…one or two million, maybe…and use it, say, to pay the mortgages on some of the farms and, the farmers here, owe to the banks….”) Nelson and Mellencamp then brought family farmers before Congress to testify about the state of family farming in America. Congress subsequently passed the Agricultural Credit Act of 1987 to help save family farms from foreclosure. Today, Farm Aid is an organization that works to increase awareness of the importance of family farms, and puts on an annual concert of country, blues and rock music with a variety of stars. The board of directors includes Nelson, Mellencamp, Neil Young, and Dave Matthews. Young’s speeches about the environment are a highlight of the annual shows.
